Attendance
Regular attendance is expected. Only absences due to student ILLNESS will be excused, and may be made up by rescheduling at a later time. Other absences, including those due to sports participation, social activities, and vacations other than at school breaks are considered unexcused, and will not be rescheduled. Tuition will not be lowered or refunded for missed lessons. A school “snow day” does not mean that I will not be teaching that day. I will call you if I am not holding lessons due to the weather. If you are not sure if a lesson is being held a particular week, please consult your child’s assignment book, as I always note the date of the next lesson.
A Lesson Exchange List will be provided, with names, numbers and lesson times of my students, so you may call and arrange to trade lesson times with someone else, if necessary. Please notify me of these arrangements.
Termination of Lessons
Please give 30 days advance notice if you wish to discontinue lessons. I reserve the right to terminate lessons at any time for any of the following reasons:
1) Student shows lack of progress due to insufficient practice, unfulfilled requirements or not making an effort to improve
2) Persistent absences from lessons
3) Repeated failure to pay tuition when due
Some Guidelines for Parents
*For younger students, please help them read the assignment book. Older students should be reminded to read theirs. It includes specific instructions for HOW to practice, not just what to practice.
*Remind your child to bring all materials to every lesson, including assignment book, and to come with clean hands and trimmed fingernails.
*If you don’t have one, I strongly encourage you to purchase a metronome for use during practice.
*Please keep your piano tuned (at least once a year) and in good working order.
